WINGS After-School Program

ICS offers its own after-school program, WINGS, and coordinates with other after-school options throughout the city.

WINGS
WINGS was formed to create an environment where students can reach their highest potential in academics, physical fitness, and artistic talent. Students in WINGS also spend time completing homework and receiving homework help.

Registration
If you are interested in having your child(ren) attend the WINGS after-school program, you can contact Neyza Cabrera for more information.

The following forms must be completed for registration. All registration forms must be complete in order for your child to begin the after-school program:

1. General registration form
2. Physical form (updated and valid within 1 year of enrollment date)
a. Should be updated every 2 years once enrolled
b. Only the after-school physical form is accepted
3. Complete immunization records (as applicable to age of child)
4. Parent/program agreement
5. Payment agreement
6. Parent consent form
7. Emergency contact/release form
8. Pickup procedures agreement

Payment
WINGS charges $15 per day. Incoming students must also pay a first-time registration fee of $25. Payments are due the Friday before the coming week.

Late Fees
Payments made after Monday are charged late fees:

  • Any payments received after Monday are subject to a $10 late fee.
  • Payments not made by the following Monday are subject to an additional $15 late fee for the 2nd week.
  • Payments not made by the 2nd week result in suspension from the after-school program until the total payment plus both late fees are received.

You can make payments by cash and money order only.

Pickup Procedures
Parents are to pick up their child(ren) no later than 6:00 p.m. If a parent picks up a child after 6:00 p.m., the parent will be charged a late fee of $1 per minute. Parents are to immediately notify the after-school coordinator of any delays in pickup.

Only persons listed on the emergency contact/release form may pick up a student. If there are any changes to the list, please immediately notify the after-school coordinator. If there are changes due to emergencies, please call and speak directly to the after-school coordinator so that a “Verbal Request for Release of Child” form can be completed.

Excused Absences
If your child experiences an excused absence, you are credited for that day.
Excused absences include:

  • Medical and dental appointments (with follow-up copy of appointment slip)
  • Long-term illness (with follow-up doctor’s/hospital’s excuse)
  • Vacations/trips (with one-week notice)
  • Early dismissal due to extreme family emergencies (please explain)

In order to receive a credit, you must submit written documentation.

Credits are not given for short-term sickness or an early dismissal due to sickness or early pickup.

Discipline and Dismissal
Participation and respect for others (including teachers) is necessary for everyone to have meaningful participation and engagement in our activities. WINGS operates on a “Three Strikes, You’re Out” discipline model. Our discipline procedure is as follows:

  • A student will first receive a verbal warning. A WINGS teacher will model appropriate behavior.
  • If a student continues with negative behavior, the student will receive a 10-minute time-out to think about his or her behavior. A teacher will talk with the student about his or her behavior.
  • If a student continues with the negative behavior, the student will be brought to the front office for the rest of the activity. After the activity, the after-school coordinator will speak with the student and complete an incident form. The after-school coordinator will also meet with the parent and review the incident form. The signed form will be kept in the student’s after-school file.
  • If a student receives five incident forms within a month’s time, the after-school coordinator and parent will meet to discuss whether the program is suitable for the student. Changes in activities may be made. If a student receives five more incident forms after this meeting, the student may be asked to leave the program. Parents will be given two weeks to find a replacement after-school program.
