PTA
The ICS PTA is part of the National PTA, which advocates for children’s issues and concerns. The ICS PTA works on the following:
- Annual fundraising events: The PTA manages several yearly fundraisers to support many aspects of the school, such as the creation of our library, the fine arts program, field trips, and specific programs and resources.
- Family nights: Several times a year, the PTA organizes schoolwide family fun events, such as a potluck holiday celebration dinner in December and a talent show in June.
- Monthly PTA meetings: At its monthly meetings, the PTA sponsors workshops for parents on issues relating to ICS and their children’s education. Recent workshops have covered topics such as “Helping Your Child Be a Better Reader” and “Helping Your Child with Homework.” PTA meetings are held at the school on the first Wednesday of every month at 6:15 p.m. Food is provided and babysitting is available for a small fee. Meetings are open to all.
- PTA communications: The PTA regularly communicates about volunteer opportunities and upcoming events through the ICS monthly newsletter, ICS News, which is sent home in each child’s homework folder.
