Sixth Annual Silent Auction and Party to be Held Saturday May 3
April 9, 2008
Are you looking for an affordable night out that includes a delicious dinner, homemade desserts, local beers and fine wines (for lower than happy hour prices), and a chance to mingle and laugh with old and new friends?
Do you want to be the first on your block to own a one-of-kind piece of artwork (all mediums) or decorated furniture created by the hottest new artists in Philadelphia?
Is there an inviting (no pressure) atmosphere where you can find gifts for a variety of occasions (birthday, graduation, wedding, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparent’s Day, bon voyage and baby showers) all under one roof and at bargain prices?
Do you support children’s creative education and the Arts and Humanities?
If any of the above fulfill your culinary, artistic, shopping and philanthropic needs, then the ICS Silent Auction and Party on Saturday, May 3, from 6-10pm, is the place for you. For the nominal entrance fee of $5 per person, you receive one coveted dress-down day pass for your child or 1 free drink ticket.
The Silent Auction, sponsored by the PTA, is a night of socializing and merry-making for the parents, teachers, staff and friends of ICS. No Kids - but the event is For The Kids! The monies raised during the night go directly towards the PTAs Fine Arts Fund, which provides resources for art, music, dance and humanities programs. Each year, the event raises approximately $16,000. What do the monies fund? Art teachers’ salaries (2002, 2007); sound proofing dance/movement room (2006); electric keyboard for music room (2007); artist in residence programs (2006 & 2007); and every year, the students are given the opportunity to experience theatrical productions and musical concerts, attend dance programs and poetry readings, and visit art and science museums. While many schools cut back arts & humanities programs, we boast to increase them!
This year our goal is to raise $20,000. New music and dance/movement rooms next year, plus two art rooms instead of one warrant our desire for a loftier goal. We hope you’ll become a part of the PTA Silent Auction tradition on Saturday, May 3, and join us for some good fun. Even if you can’t spend, come and have uninterrupted conversations with other adults, enjoy some delicious food, listen to some music, and check out the beautiful works of art created by the students. You’ll be inspired to bid!
Respectively,
The Silent Auction Committee

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
Direct Donations/Solicitations
Ask for a donation. If you feel comfortable, ask a local vendor whom you frequent often or are familiar with (bookstore, café, beauty and/or nail salon, car wash, restaurant, dance studio, bowling alley, ice skating/roller rink, etc.) to donate a certificate, gift basket or service. Perhaps you know a philanthropic soul with access to a beach house, a mountain retreat, a cabin in the woods, or an apartment in another city or country who would be willing to auction a weekend or week’s stay. Download and print this document that can be given to a potential donor. If you need something more official looking (on ICS letterhead), just let us know.
Make your own donation. Perhaps there is something that you personally would like to donate: voice lessons, a series of yoga classes, piano instruction, interior design consultation, a shiatsu massage, cater a dinner for two or four, cut or braid hair, etc.
Monetary Donations
If you are unable to attend the event or it’s not your thing, but yet you’d still like to help out in some way, monetary donations are always welcome. You can either make a donation towards the Fine Arts Fund itself, or you can make a monetary donation towards the evening – such as funds towards catering (which includes food and paper goods), or beverages.
