Independence Charter School Opens Language Learning Resource Center for Students and Their Families
February 20, 2010
Starting February 24, Independence Charter School’s Language Learning Resource Center will be open for extended hours to provide students and their families with the opportunity to supplement their second language studies through additional practice with Rosetta Stone software. The Learning Resource Center will be open on Wednesdays from 4-5:45 for students grades 4-8 and on Saturdays for parents with two separate sessions: 9-11 or 11-1. Registration will be on a first come first served basis with priority given to Spanish and English language study.
Independence Charter is very excited about offering this additional opportunity for language
study to its students and parents. According to CEO Jurate Krokys: We are so glad that we can give this opportunity for students and parents to “extend” their learning. Although the logistics and funding were hurdles, we are glad that we could surmount them so that this opportunity could take place for our community.
The first student session is scheduled for Wednesday February 24 from 4-5:45. The first parent sessions are scheduled for Saturday, February 27 from 9-11 and 11-1. The program will continue through Saturday, June 12. Please note that these sessions may not be extended if arrival is later. Saturday sessions are for adults only. This means that children may not accompany parents to the school. There will be no child care and children may not play quietly off to the side.
To reserve a place for either the student or parent sessions, please download the appropriate registration form and return it to Leonora Cravotta in the front office.
