New Building
2008-2009 School Opening Update
Our progress on the building is on schedule, and is expected to be finished on September 1. To ensure we have time to complete construction and renovation and to move all materials and furniture into the building, ICS is targeting September 15, 2008 as the first day for all returning 1st through 8th graders. Incoming kindergarten students will return a few days to one week later. It is possible that we will open as late as September 22, if work is not finished by September 1.
We are making every effort to avoid opening this late, and we have also looked at available alternatives to delaying the opening, such as opening in September in our current location. However, we believe that the disruption to students and teachers with a mid-year move and the additional, unbudgeted expenditure does not balance the potential gain of opening earlier.
Following the April 9 BOT meeting, we will provide another update. This update will include the approved 2008-2009 school year calendar.
