Fine Arts

ICS students emerge as sophisticated, critical consumers and producers of art. Grades K-8 students attend weekly art classes where they begin to understand art through the artist and his or her work.

Students learn the language of art and the techniques for producing various styles of art. Students also discuss the influence of culture on the artist. Where possible, the fine arts program mirrors the country studies, so students perceive the country studied through a variety of approaches. In the past, students have studied the Impressionists, Frida Kahlo, Peter Sibanda, and many others. Students spend an average of six weeks studying one artist.
